Becky, Co-FounderBecky Olson
Co-Founder & Director of Community Outreach
Becky is a three-time survivor of advanced stage breast cancer, diagnosed in 1996, 2004, and again in 2009.  She left her job as a sales manager for Dex Media in 2005 to pursue her role as Co-Founder and Director of Community Outreach of Breast Friends. Becky has also developed her skills as a professional speaker and now travels all over the country sharing her experience and inspiring her audiences.  She is the published author of, “The Hat That Saved My Life,” which was published in 2004 with a second printing in 2007, as well as a contributing author of several other books. She is a wife of over 36 years, mother of five, and grandmother of four, with an amazing rescue dog, Swayze. Learn more about Becky.
Sharon Henifin, Co-FounderSharon Henifin
Co-Founder & Director of Programs
Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993.  In 2006, she left her job as a sales trainer for Dex Media to work in her role as co-founder for Breast Friends and currently serves as Director of Programs. She became a Certified Life Coach in 2008 and expanded Breast Friends survivorship program using life-coaching techniques. She is a contributing author with chapters in two publications and is presently working on her first book. She also speaks, facilitates her workshops, and sells her photography around the area. Her specialty is butterflies and nature. She has three grown children and four grandchildren. She lives in Portland, OR with her husband.

Office Manager & Webmaster

Dianna is a breast cancer survivor since 2003. She volunteered at Breast Friends from 2006-2010. In January 2010, Dianna was offered the position as Office Manager for Breast Friends, which she promptly accepted. She has also taken on the daunting responsibility as Breast Friends’ Webmaster. She is a native Oregonian, cat lover, and driver of a really cool convertible, a 2006 Mazda Miata.

Allison Hancock
Event  & Volunteer Coordinator

Allison is Event & Volunteer Coordinator. She was a volunteer with Breast Friends from September 2013, and became an official staff member in 2015. Allison is a twelve-year breast cancer survivor. Her husband and two teenage sons relocated to Oregon from Connecticut and have enjoyed exploring the Northwest. She says that volunteering is a rewarding experience, but getting paid to do what you love is even better.
Yvonne Nydigger-smaYvonne Nydigger
Patient Services Coordinator
Yvonne served on our Board from 2014 until June 2016, when she joined our staff as Patient Service Coordinator. After retiring from Zell Bros with 30+ years in sales and management, Yvonne enjoyed part time work at the Washington Square Brighton Store. When not working she concentrates on her volunteerism for the last four years with Breast Friends since her recovery. She is often a spokesperson at events and in the community for Breast Friends. She works tirelessly on our events, procuring auction items, decorating and her emcee duties.

Intel Fellow
Chris is our newest team member joining Breast Friends in September 2016. Her duties are in the areas of procurement, evaluating overall processes, as well as helping to develop and implement marketing & fundraising action plans with the Director of Development. She is a 36-year Intel veteran and just recently retired. Chris spent 12 years as an Event Manager for Intel’s North America Marketing team managing their customer events.  Some of Chris’ personal passions include cancer patient advocacy and supporting animal rights. She has a Son, 3 Step-daughters, 2 Grand-daughters, and a 12-year-old tabby at home named Joey. “I enjoy working in a collaborative, friendly, goal-oriented team environment so when the opportunity arose here at Breast Friends I was delighted to have the opportunity to work with this truly dedicated team of ladies, and their most worthy mission

Patient Services Volunteer
Elizabeth is a patient services volunteer. Elizabeth chats with women who call in and need someone to talk to about their cancer journey. She follows them throughout their journey.

Ginger is a patient services volunteer. Ginger is a crucial part of our Hat Project. She makes sure that the hats go out promptly and checks in with those recipients. She also chats with women who call in and need someone to talk to about their cancer journey. She follows them throughout their journey.

Office Volunteer
Jeannette came to Breast Friends after reading an article in the paper about a retreat for women that were going through or gone through cancer treatment. “As I read the article they mentioned Breast Friends and as a Survivor myself I thought I would reach out to them.  A few weeks later I had an interview with Sharon and Becky and as they say the rest is history. I love that I am able to use what I learned in my job of 40 years to help them help so many.” Jeannette volunteers weekly in the office.
Linda Adams
Community Ambassador
Linda is a breast cancer Survivor since 2010. As a volunteer she strives to always be available to help women experiencing breast cancer and following treatment. Having spoken about her experience at the Joy of Life Fundraiser and Survivor Luncheon Linda is very passionate about Breast Friends and it’s mission to help cancer patients. Linda joined our Board of Directors in 2014.
Nancy _Volunteer Nancy Harrington
Community Ambassador
Nancy is a Survivor of both ovarian and breast cancer. Nancy has been a volunteer with Breast Friends since 2007. She works in the office and at several of our events throughout the year. She is always willing to help wherever there is a need. She is a real “go-getter” when it comes to finding donations. She is also a generous donor to Breast Friends.
