Our Services

You Are Not Alone

In the many moments after diagnosis it will be important to remember that you are NOT alone. Women are diagnosed with cancer all over this country each and every day. Thousands of physicians, nurses, researchers, foundations, and individuals are working to heal, to cure and to eradicate this disease on behalf of each and every one of you. May you find some comfort in that reality.

Many things will be required of you as you fight this disease: You will be called upon to be strong, brave, organized, and focused. Whatever your individual circumstances are, you will need help. Breast Friends has created programs to meet the patient’s needs at different point in her journey.

Please note: Not all programs are available in all areas. Please contact your local Affiliate to inquire about program availability.  If there is not an affiliate in your area, please call our national office at 1-888-386-8048

“Breast Friends programs are heartfelt and really offer unique ideas to friends and family members. They are one of our greatest success stories. Thank you for all you do in the fight against breast cancer. I am proud to know you!”

Help for Patients

Find the support you need

Breast Friends has developed several programs to help you and your family and friends as you begin and continue your journey. We believe that no woman should go through the cancer experience alone, and we know that often even our closest friends and family members are at a loss to really know how to help. Your emotional, physical and spiritual well-being are the foundation for the programs we have put together. Each patient is different and your needs will change over time. We hope you will find a continuum of support through these programs sustaining you in your journey.

Services for Family and Friends

She needs your help

Breast Friends has developed several programs to help the patient by teaching her family and friends what is important. We believe that no woman should go through the cancer experience alone, and we know that too often even the closest friends and family are at a loss to really know how to help. Her emotional, physical and spiritual well being are the foundation for the programs we have put together. Each patient is different and her needs will change over time. We hope you will find the inspiration you need to fully understand the role you will play in her healing.

Not all programs are available in all areas; please check with your local affiliate for availability.

Community Education and Awareness

Program support is needed

It is an important part of our mission to raise awareness about a woman’s need for support and friendship during cancer treatment. Breast Friends provides keynote speakers and presenters to large and small groups alike. Our presentations include vital medical, social, emotional and physical information targeted to ensuring that each woman is able to get the support she needs. Laced with humor, encouragement and insight, these presentations are an important way for the work of helping women from diagnosis through treatment to continue.

Workshops/Retreats

Breast Friends is at the forefront in helping women survive  the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis.  We not only embrace and encourage the patient at the beginning of treatment, but once treatment concludes, we’re also here encouraging women to embrace a new “best life” and fulfill their dreams.  In order to provide the continuum of care to take the patient from the point of diagnosis and the beginning of treatment, to the end of treatment and beyond, Breast Friends has created two new workshops.

Coming soon – H.O.P.E., Helping Others Provide Empathy,  is a three-hour workshop for the newly diagnosed patient, and her spouse, children, or friend; whoever is likely to go through the journey with her.  In this workshop, we will explore the varying roles of each person in her recovery.  We will talk about issues that may surface, and examine ways to provide support, not only to the patient, but to the friends and family members closest to the patient.

Our new Thriving Beyond Cancer “Survivorship” program implemented by Breast Friends is beneficial for women who are transitioning from treatment, feel stuck, or desire a more rewarding, satisfying and joy-filled life after cancer. “Thriving Beyond Cancer” utilizes life coaching principles to help map out a clearer path and focus on thinking outside the box. Sharon brings 18 years of personal experience and expertise to enhance  “Survivorship” experiences and encourage the patient to move forward .  The workshop is offered around the country as a two day format. Depending on location, it may also be offered as a week-end retreat, or once a week for four weeks.
