Thriving Beyond Cancer
Breast Friends is at the forefront in helping women survive the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis. We not only embrace and encourage the patient at the beginning of treatment, but once treatment concludes, we’re also here encouraging women to embrace a new “best life” and fulfill their dreams. In order to provide the continuum of care to take the patient from the point of diagnosis and the beginning of treatment, to the end of treatment and beyond, Breast Friends has created two workshops. Our Thriving Beyond Cancer “Survivorship” program is beneficial for women who are transitioning from treatment, feel stuck, or desire a more rewarding, satisfying and joy-filled life after cancer. “Thriving Beyond Cancer” utilizes life coaching principles to help map out a clearer path and focus on thinking outside the box. Sharon brings 18 years of personal experience and expertise to enhance “Survivorship” experiences and encourage the patient to move forward. The workshop is offered around the country as a two day format. Depending on location, it may also be offered as a week-end retreat, or once a week for four weeks.
Defining Your Future on Your Terms
These workshops and retreats help you navigate all of the challenges that are part of living your life after cancer. Following diagnosis the priorities of your life are re-ordered, and treatment has been the most important thing in your life. Life after cancer is both wonderful and challenging. Surviving cancer has changed you and taking time to reflect on what those changes are and what they mean to you and those you love is important.
Safe, Informative, Encouraging
Topics covered in the workshop include; The New Normal, What’s Next, Who am I After Cancer, and Transitioning to Survivor. Each workshop is led by a professional who is also a survivor. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share insights, problem solve, give and receive comfort. A close bond forms over the two days allowing each woman to truly feel supported, comforted, encouraged and informed about the thousands of adjustments and the big and small decisions that will build her life after cancer.

Here’s what some are saying after attending the “Thriving Beyond” workshop: I appreciate Sharon’s enthusiasm and she is a wonderful motivator with lots of great ideas. It was a comfort to have this workshop to attend and to meet other women who know what breast cancer means and how it affects ones’ life and family. This workshop is a great start for someone who is recovering from a diagnosis & treatment and needs guidance and support to plan the rest of their lives.
I really enjoyed the workshop. “Transitioning to Survivor” is a topic that no one talks about and yet it is so needed. Sharon’s positive attitude & energy was encouraging and helped me think about my dreams. The tools from the workshop were helpful as I continue on this journey.
Thriving Beyond was a beneficial workshop for me. The homework that Sharon gave us to work with really helped me think about what is important for me now. It was a very comfortable environment for talking about many personal issues. I think that just getting out of my comfort zone, meeting new people & talking about me and others was very rewarding.
I didn’t know quite what to expect and came in with an open mind. The Thriving beyond was a very safe place to open and share. Sharon made sure by asking each person if it was ok beforehand. If we did share that was ok too. Oh my, did I receive new tools for the future. Taking little steps you achieve the goal whether long term or short term is the key. The Alignment Gap was a huge tool which I intend to utilize. I felt the time during class went really fast. I was excited after each class and looked forward to the next week to move on to the next step. Sharon was amazing. Her enthusiasm for life, her experience as a survivor meant so much and made the experience of this workshop valuable to all attendees. I will highly recommend this workshop and Breast Friends to people I meet daily.
